Sayonara Suisse, bonjour Storks

Hi de hi

Well we've made it north, just above Strasbourg now and back online after 3 mountainous and lovely days. We drove up form Geneva across the Jura mountains, staying in the centre of Comte cheese making (they make 40 million tonnes of the stuff - it is big cheese!). So we had yummy food and a very scenic day and comfy night in Poligny and surrounds.

Then we mosied our way via Besancon to Munster, home of Munster cheese. Also home of many storks - amazing, roosting in huge messy nests on rooftops. They have been saving them there from the v dangerous migration they instictively make to Africa, by keeping the younguns captive (in a nice enclosure) til the urge to go south wanes, at around age 3. Otherwise 90% don't make it back from the long trek south, so it is best to keep them close by. They are truly magnificent birds.

We stayed last night at a fabulous ferme auberge in the mountains above the Munster valley.

And tomorrow we leave France again, but we'll be back!

Night - the time has changed, it is today officially winter in Europe and nearly midnight so off to bed for me. Will post some more pics tomorrow as we have finally had the transferred to a disc.
